Is Facebook Safe?

There are literally millions of people on Facebook and other Social Networking sites like Twitter, Myspace, Linkedin and others. When masses of people join up on a single website, this is a big sign to makers of viruses to start doing their dirty work. So, is Facebook safe? Yes. If you are just going on to see what your friends and family members are doing then Facebook is safe to go on. When you start playing the online games and clicking on the links that other people send you is when it becomes unsafe. Many of these links are actually being sent by a virus from your friends system. If you ever receive a message from a friend on facebook that you are unsure about, DO NOT CLICK ON IT!! The chances of it being a virus are far greater than it not being a virus.

How to uninstall a third-party antivirus software?

Please click below the link associated with the currently installed antivirus software and follow the instructions on vendor’s website to proceed with the uninstallation:

Note:
Typical uninstallation from the Control Panel in Windows can be insufficient in some cases. Some records may still remain in the system and prevent avast! from being correctly installed. Most vendors offer special removal tools to uninstall their antivirus software completely from the system. If there is mentioned an option to use removal tool in the instructions linked above, we recommend to use it for proceeding with the uninstallation.

My computer has a a blue screen. What does this mean?

The dreaded “Blue Screen of Death” isn’t always the demise of your PC. More often than not, it is caused by a hardware or software error(s). We have tools that can diagnose hardware issues as well as software problems. In many instances we can repair and recover your computer to a working state again.

Which is better: a Laptop or a Desktop?

This is another question that we receive a lot and is very hard to answer. The answer to this question depends on what you are going to be using the computer for. If you are a gamer, then we highly recommend desktops because you are able to do upgrades to video cards and memory. Whereas if you were to go with a laptop, the only upgrades you would be able to do are memory ugprades.  If you are the business type that tends to bring work home, then we suggest a laptop. This way, you can take the computer to work with you, save what you need to directly to the computer, then take it home with you; making work at the office and at home much easier.

Personally, I like to recommend desktops to most customers who ask. They are easily upgradeable and can sometimes do more for you than what a laptop can.

Should I upgrade my old computer, or buy a new one?

We get asked this question a lot, and there is no one good answer.

Depending on the computer in question, it may or may not be cost effective to upgrade your current computer.  If you bring your computer in, we will determine what you as a customer will be using it for, and evaluate its current condition. At that point we will give you several options and recommendations that best suits your needs.

What is the best antivirus program?

In a single word, Avast.  Avast offers a level of protection that the others can’t match. The other more popular AV programs on the market today, while better than nothing, inhibit the way your computer works, drastically slowing it down. In many cases we’ve seen these other products make a computer nearly impossible to use.

We are Avast partners and offer it exclusively to all of our customers.

Where did I get a virus?
